Halnn CBN Grade materials for hard turning hardened steel
Hard Turning, as one of the most popular process in hard turning industry, it has high process efficiency, low production cost, traditional grinding process can’t meet all the requirements. However, hard turning process also require high on the cutting tools, such as the tool hardness, abrasive resistance, strength and toughness, ect.
In current times, the cutting tools that suit for hardened steel include coating carbide insert, ceramic cutters and cbn insert.
(1) Coating Carbide insert: Such as TiN,TiCN,TiAlN and Al2O3, the coating thickness will be 2~18μm，it will help reduce the fiction, the cutting heat. Because the coating is thin, it will also appear abnormal phenomenon when the coating finished.
(2) Ceramic Cutters: It has high hardness, abrasive resistance and stable Chemical stability, is suit for machining the workpiece which hardness is between HRC45 and HRC55, but the ceramic cutter is brittle, only suit for continuous turning condition.
(3) CBN Insert: The hardness is only second to diamond, has excellent red hardness, and has both excellent abrasive resistance and impact resistance, is the first choice for hard turning hardened steel. It not only can be used for hard turning workpiece with hardness above HRC45 with high efficiency, but also can obey interrupt turning and large allowance machining. Especially Halnn CBN grade for hard turning, it not only can obtain high surface roughness, but also has long tool life.
