CBN tools are gradually applied to the auto parts industry

In the rapid development of the auto parts industry, cutting tools directly affect their processing efficiency and product 

quality, so which aspects can improve processing efficiency and increase product production speed?
 
 
(1) Using combination tools

When machining workpieces, combined tools (double-knife simultaneous machining) are used to avoid downtime due 

to tool change, thus saving machining costs. For example, Halnn introduces BN-S300 and BNK30 CBN grade inserts, 

which can simultaneously process the outer circle, end face and inner hole of brake disc, guarantee good cutting

(2) Using a tool with a high metal removal rate

Choosing the tool with high metal removal rate as much as possible can not only save the number of passes, reduce 

processing time, save processing cost, but also shorten the delivery cycle. Halnn BN-S300 CBN grade inserts, using 

nano-scale bonding agent and high precision CBN particles are preferably matched to meet the stable turning of brake discs, 

brake drums, pulleys, flywheels and other components.

 
                               



(3) Adopt higher cutting speed

The auto parts industry is increasingly using CBN tools to machine gray cast iron and steel parts, using PCD tools to 

machine aluminum parts. PCD tools can drive high speed gray cast iron parts at cutting speeds of 500-2000 m/min, although 

the price of such tools is relatively high, the overall production cost is greatly reduced because the cutting speed can be 

greatly increased and the tool life is extended.

Automotive parts are usually produced in large quantities, so CBN tools and PCD tools are highly economical and dry-cut for

(4) Shorten the tool change time

Whenever possible, a tool that does not require removal from the machine when replacing the tool, or a tool that is designed 

to greatly speed the blade replacement speed. This type of tool eliminates or minimizes downtime and saves on processing costs. 

Halnn has two structures for the automotive parts industry. One is a brazed CBN tool with a hole in the middle, and the other is a

solid CBN tool. The blades of both structures do not need to be unloaded. Simply replace the blade, reducing downtime and saving 

on machining costs.
