Diamond Coating Tools for machining Graphite Electrode

In Current times, there are 3 types cutting tools can be used for machining graphite:Tungsten Carbide Inserts, PCD Inserts and Diamond Coating Tools.

The main graphite component is graphite electrode, manin machining surface is their grooves and the end surface, which will need various end mills, such as 2mm end mills or even less than 1.5mm end mills and ball nose end mill for milling process.
Becasue of bad rigidity of the graphite component, it will be eailsy chipping, we need to increase the front angle to make the tips sharpen.
When machining graphite electrode with tungsten carbide insert, it will wear easily, which will lead the abrasive wear, cracking and breakage between the cutter bonder phase and wear resistant phase.

When machining graphite electrode with pcd tools, it also will cause wear, which consists of the wear of the binder phase by graphite chips and the secondary abrasive wear caused by the crushing of the diamond itself.

When machining graphite electrode with Diamond Coating Tools, it has strong graphite adhesion, no Crescent wear. It belongs to Macroscopic impact wear instead of mechanical abrasive wear. The tool life will be better than tungsten carbide tools and pcd tools.

So the most suitable cutting tools for machining graphite electrode will be diamond coating tools.
Specific for high speed machining graphite electrode, Halnn can offer various diamond coating milling tools, such as ball nose end mills and surface end mills. Please kindly check the following image:
