With the development of the hard turning lathe, turning instead of grinding already are widely used in bearings industry, and it will require high on the hard turning lathe and hard turning insert. Especially for the hard turning inserts, as the cutting tools who directly contact bearing, become one of the most important parts in the process.
The hardness of the bearings after heat treatment will be above HRC55~62, especially for large scale bearing, the hardened layer will be 3~5mm, and it will require high on the precision, so it propose big challenge on the cutting tools wear resistance and the toughness.
CBN Insert is the hardest materials for machining ferrous metal, and turning instead of grinding process have been widely used, it was only used for small allowance in the past times. For large scale Wind Turbine bearings, we recommend BN-S200 solid cbn inserts.BN-S200 solid cbn insert, belong to non-metal adhesive cbn insert, which not only make sure the toughness, but also avoid the tool life reduction caused by adding metal adhesive. And BN-S200 belong to solid cbn insert, the insert body hardness is about HRC95~100, and can be used for large allowance. The machining workpiece allowance is between HRC45~hRC97, and suit for large allowance hard turning and turning instead of grinding.
