Part 1 The main materials and the performance of the pump components
Because of the bad environment of the working environment for the industry pump,the main materials of the pumps are high hardness and high strength cast iron which contain chromium element. We often called that High Chromium cast iron, such as Cr26.

Part 2 How to choose the cutting tools materials for machining pump components
Because of the different working environment of the pump, and it needs to make sure the performance of high hardness and excellent wear resistance, we usually use high chromium cast iron as the main materials. But it will have some problems on machining this material pumps, such as hardness, casting defects are the main factors.
In current times, there are 3 types cutting tools can be used for machining pump: carbide insert, ceramic cutters and cbn insert. With so many years’ experience on superhard cutting tools, we recommend to use cbn insert.
The manufacturers use carbide insert machine pump parts, but the hardness of the carbide cutting tools are not high, it exists casting defects when machining pump parts with irregular surface, the tools will wear rapid, and the tool cost on each work piece is high. Then they try ceramic cutters, however it is brittle, and only can be used for finishing process and small working allowance.
