For slurry pump, due to its poor working environment, its main components such as pump housing, impeller are made of wear-resistant cast iron in order to obtain a good usage lifetime. But machining wear-resistant cast iron is a big problem.
The problems on machining slurry pump:
(1) The main materials mainly are high chromium cast iron, and the hardness after casting is high, and it will require high on the wear resistance of the cutting tools
(2) The pump will have large working allowance, and the surface will have sand, hard pot, ect problems, and it belongs to interrupt turning condition, it will require high on the impact resistance of the cutting tools.
Solutions for machining slurry pump

Specific for machining pump housing with high chromium cast iron materials, Halnn researched BN-K1 solid cbn inserts. BN-K1 has good impact resistance and wear resistance, and can be used for large working allowance and interrupt turning. Compared with carbide insert, the tools life of Bn-K1 solid cbn insert will be several times more.
